Mutare, Zimbabwe – July 2017

Following on from our week in Zambia Janet, Becky and myself traveled on to Zimbabwe for a further week as Rewired started their first projects with Mission Direct outside Zambia.

We stayed and worked in and around Mutare which is in the Eastern Highlands close to the Mozambique border.  Our primary work was with the Christwish College which run a service taking laptop computers into local schools to ensure as many children as possible have access and can learn these vital skills for their life ahead.  In addition we spent some time at Joshua Dhube School where Mission Direct have been working in partnership with them to build a number of classrooms over the last few years.  The team also provided 2 1-day workshops for teachers giving them basic skills in the use of computers.  On our last day in Mutare we also visited some of the schools where Christwish College take the laptops followed by some time working with one of the feeding programmes provided by local churches in the Dangamvura area of Mutare.

This trips has given us an understanding of some slightly different needs and challenges from Zambia but we are planning for a full 2 week visit to Zimbabwe for 2018, so watch this space.
